Frequently Asked Questions - Brightwork Detailing

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you charge for travel?

Brightwork Detailing is based in Witney, Oxfordshire.

Our general rule of thumb is that we will travel up to 30 minutes each way for no additional charge, with travel beyond that charged at £6.00 per 30 minutes.

If you live in the following postcodes, you will not be charged for travel:

OX28, OX29, OX18, OX13, OX20, OX7, OX2, SN7.

If you're outside of these postcodes, please get in touch and we'll see what we can do.

Why should I use you instead of a car wash?

Automatic car washes are widely known to leave swirl marks and scratches in paint. Even a hand car wash won't take the same amount of care as Brightwork Detailing - their business models usually work by getting cars in and out as quickly as possible, and using the cheapest chemicals possible.

What don't you do?

Brightwork Detailing will detail or valet your vehicle - however some things cannot be cleaned, for example spilled paint, dye or some types of glue and oil. We don't do mechanical work or bodywork repairs to any vehicles, however we can make appropriate recommendations through our extensive trade contacts.

How do you define small, medium and large vehicles?

A small vehicle is either a hatchback or small sports car, such as the Vauxhall Corsa or Mazda MX-5.

A medium vehicle is a mid-sized saloon/estate or a small SUV/van, such as a Vauxhall Crossland, BMW 5-Series or Volkswagen Caddy.

A large vehicle is any full-sized saloon, SUV or van, such as a Mercedes S-Class, Range Rover or Mercedes Sprinter.

Any sized van is classed as a small vehicle for cab interior detailing.

How can I help you get the best results?

To get the best results, it helps if your vehicle is parked in the shade and not hot to the touch. We also require that things are taken out of the boot and door pockets, and that there is space to move around the entire vehicle.

For motorcycles, we insist that the engine is cool and the bike is positioned on a centre stand or paddock stand, allowing the rear wheel to rotate freely.

We require that caravans are emptied of personal belongings as far as possible and that they are parked with a reasonable amount of space around them.

What happens if it rains on the day of my booking?

If it rains, our weather-hardened detailers will put on their waterproof coats and carry on. Our exterior trim dressings and waxes will potentially be less effective, unless you have shelter in the form of a garage or car port available.

★ ★ ★

Which brand of chemicals do you use?

Brightwork Detailing has no affiliations with any manufacturer of cleaning products, meaning we are free to use what works best while designing our own processes. This allows our processes to evolve and improve as new products are released. Some of the brands we most enjoy using include AutoGlym, Meguiar's and Halford's Advanced.

What's the difference between valeting and detailing?

Quite simply, 'valeting' and 'detailing' are the same thing, however 'detailing' is generally used more in North America and 'valeting' used more widely in the United Kingdom.

Which payment methods do you accept?

We find cash is usually the easiest payment method for private individuals, however we will accept bank transfer. For fleet owners requiring regular cleaning, we can invoice monthly. We do not accept cheques.
